Many men may have reservations about carrying a men's leather messenger bag because they may feel like it could resemble a female handbag. It certainly is not a handbag! Let me start by saying that the men's leather messenger bag has been around for very long time. It was born out of a need for messengers and couriers to comfortably transport large amounts of cargo while being able to easily access its contents. The same principle holds today. It may not really send the right message. You should also think about the items that you will most likely carry in your bag. If you will be mostly carrying books and large items, then maybe a roomier and less compartmentalized (is that really a word?) bag will work for you. However, if you will be carrying many small items, you probably would not want them swishing around and getting lost in your bag. In a case such as this then a bag with more pockets and compartments may be what you are looking for. Messenger bags are also designed with special purposes in mind, such as those that include a special compartment with padding and support for your laptop.
